Dr Anne-Marie Smith
GDC No. 68456
- NHS Consultant in Orthodontics, Derby Teaching Hospitals
- Honorary Clinical Lecturer, University of Sheffield
- Chapman Prize 2002, British Orthodontic Society
- Master’s research in obstructive sleep apnoea
Anne-Marie’s Master’s research was in obstructive sleep apnoea, and she treats patients with splints or, where jaw sizes do not match, with jaw (orthognathic) surgery planned closely with the surgeons she works alongside at the hospital. She still provides NHS orthodontics at No1 as well as private care, and she describes teaching the next generation of orthodontists as something that keeps her fresh and up to date. She won the British Orthodontic Society’s Chapman Prize in 2002 for her Master’s research; both of No1’s principal orthodontists hold the prize.
“It’s getting the best result for your patient by working together with your dentist.”
